Why Pench
Dark skies over tiger country.
Pench National Park sits in the forests of central India, well away from the glow of big cities. On a clear night that means more stars, a clearer Milky Way and a sky worth sitting under.
Pench is also tiger country. The forest is home to tigers, leopards, sloth bears, wild dogs, gaur and herds of deer, and much of that life stirs after dark. The same darkness that makes the stars so clear is the darkness the forest depends on. Where there is little artificial light, both the sky and the wildlife are at their best. Sightings can never be promised, but on a clear night the Milky Way can.
