Moon phase calendar
Choose your night by the Moon
The Moon changes what the sky shows. Hover over a date, or tap it on a phone, to see that evening's phase, moonrise and moonset, and the planets, stars and deep-sky objects you can expect to see from Pench during the 7 to 11 pm session.
New Moon nights
No moonlight. The Milky Way, star clusters and faint nebulae are at their best, and photographers get the darkest sky.
Crescent to gibbous Moon
Best for telescope views of the Moon. Craters and mountains show sharply along the shadow line.
Full Moon nights
The brightest nights of the month. Wonderful for Moon views and moonrise photographs, while faint stars fade.
